nearly a year after having the bypass

Postby engelstraenen69 » 10 Jan 2010 21:56

hi amanda,

12 day's left and my bypass is one year old. i have lost now 56 kilo, 8 1/2 stone and feel so much better, healthier then ever before. I would like to say Thank you to Amanda for your help on my way to organize everything for the operation and I would like to say Thank you to Dr. De Clerq and his team, every minute I had to stay in the hospital i felt safe and in good hands.

My life has so much improved and a big step to this was this operation.

All the best for everyone who wants to go the same way.

kind regards

Hi Doris

Just wanted to post a quick reply to your post...i cannot believe you have lost so much weight in 1 year. I had my Op on October 1st and yesterday I was 4stone 6lbs down (29 kilos). people can't beleive me when they see me. It hasn't been without it's tears but there is never a day that I don't look back.

I want to second you on thank you to Amanada, Dr. de Clerq and all the team. Things couldn't have been better with them.

I also have to say how fantastic I feel. I had my op on 1st august 2009 and to date have lost 6st 2lbs in 5months. The difference it's made to my life is amazing, I now can bend down, cross my legs, run with my kids, shop in normal shops, wear trendy clothes, feel the knobles on the bed matress which is not nice, curl up on the armchair comfortably...all those little things that makes it so great.

On the other hand I don't know if I'd encourage someone to do this just if they are overweight. It has been one of the hardest things to do and constantly trying to find something to eat for lunch or breakfast that I want to eat as opposed to have to eat (chicken for breakfast isn't good...lol). I definately think you have to be of strong mind to get this done which goes against the reason we were in the position in the first place by not having will power to stop eating the wrong stuff. You really have to be at the end of a long road to do this and know during the bad days that I would be at least a stone more if I hadn't done this. I still go into the supermarket and look at the cakes and drool in my head!! I know if I could I would so for me not being able to is a saving grace and my life saver. I'm very proud of myself also for having the courage to do this as it isn't for everyone.

Thank you Dr le Clerq for all your skills in helping get me safely through the operation and thank you Chas for your endless support before the operation and your patience with all my phone calls.

And ROLL ON THE SUMMER.....can't wait to wear shorts and normal swimsuits and tight tops!!

Hi Doris

Well done on your weight loss. U must be delighted. Can i just ask did your weight loss hit a plateau at many stages?. Dr de cleq said that i'd hit a plateau between 6-9 months after the op. Its just over 2 weeks since i had the op and i've lost 15 lbs . . which i am v happy bout.

Did u continue to lose weight after the 6-9 month mark?

Thanks

N

hi nice girl,

I'm still loosing weight and I'm now 14 months post op. My weight is now 76 kg and i would like to loose few more kilos. it is a hard job to stay strong but the target always ahead will help to focus on that you walk the right path.

my trousers size was 22 and is now a 12 and my tops were 26/28 and are now 14/16 (just because of my belly).
Today was the first time i have dressed a skirt since my marriage 19 years ago. I got lots of compliments from my work mates, that really made my day.

nice girl, dont stress yourself out, just keep on going and it will continue that you loose weight.

wish you all the best and good luck

kind regards
